How many can we bring on a trip, and are children welcome? Currently we have bedding for a maximum of 85 individuals. Yes, children are welcome to come with family (with proper guardianship) and experience the mission field firsthand.
Are Passports necessary for everyone? Here is the information from Homeland Security as of date: “US and Canadian citizens aged 16 and over who are entering the United States from Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean by land or sea are required to show a passport or alternative WHTI-compliant document such as a passport card. Children up to the age of 15 may present proof of citizenship alone, such as a birth certificate, a consular report of birth abroad, a naturalization certificate, or a Canadian citizenship card.”
Do we need to provide our own transportation? Yes, your group will need to provide their own vehicle transportation to and from Mexico. You will want to visit the “Visitor Information”page on the site.
What about the violence I hear about in the news? Faith Mission Ministry has been ministering in the city of Acuña Mexico for over 50 years, with literally hundreds upon hundreds of church and youth groups going across the border for ministry, construction, vacation bible schools, etc… In the 50 years, we have never had one incident of violence against any of the groups. As with any city of the world, including the United States, there is crime and violence. We believe that is safe for the American groups to come and minister in Acuña. Let us repeat, we believe it is safe to come and minister to the people. However, should any information arise that we believed to be of impact or of safety for any of the groups, we we will up front and clear with the leadership. We trust that as God places the love, burden and passion to come, He will protect and sustain us in all things. *
*Since March of 2020 we have been dealing with Covid-19 and that has affected the ministry in the US and in Mexico. On our Facebook (see How Can I Help page) you can see pictures and updates on the current situation. At this time we will not be having groups come to the mission.
